Home Sweet Home for the Holidays

The Downtown Highland Park Alliance is pleased to announce its “Home Sweet Home for the Holidays” series of events on four themed Saturdays: November 18, from 3-5 PM, and December 2, 9 & 16 from 2-4 PM. The public is invited to come out to celebrate the season throughout downtown Highland Park and get their holiday shopping done, while enjoying street entertainers, carolers, specials and treats!

    The vibrant downtown Highland Park district contains an upscale outdoor shopping destination filled with unique boutiques, jewelry stores, home decor shops, amazing restaurants, and businesses catering to beauty and personal care. Walkable and friendly, it is home to many professional services businesses: accountants, attorneys, doctors, dentists and architects. The Central Business District is also steps away from Highland Park Hospital, City Hall, the Highland Park Library, the Highland Park Art Center and the North Shore Yacht Club. Downtown Highland Park is also fortunate to serve as the City’s growing multifamily residential area.

    Downtown Highland Park defines the City, providing a shared sense of community for all Highland Park residents. We are less than one mile from the Park Avenue Beach on Lake Michigan and designated as a Tree City USA destination. Downtown Highland Park is easily accessible via the Metra North line. Our Downtown is pedestrian and cyclist-friendly and has plenty of free parking.

    The Central Business District is approximately 106 acres, home to about 450 businesses, and has a daytime population of close to 9,000. Within a 1.5 mile radius of the downtown the consumer population is 22,155, within a 4 mile radius it increases to 71,084, within a 7.5 mile radius it increases to 216,737, and within a 10 mile radius the consumer population increases to 519,900.

    The Downtown Highland Park Property Owners Association was formed in 2007 for the long-term health of the downtown district. The purpose of the Alliance is to maintain and improve the economic vitality of the Highland Park, Illinois Central Business District through the retention, expansion and attraction of all types of commercial enterprise.
